Course Description:

This course addresses the planning, engineering, and asset management of aging power delivery system infrastructure. The approach focuses on the five factors contributing to poor performance in older systems and methods to mitigate their effects.

  • Aging Equipment

  • Obsolete Infrastructures

  • Out-of-Date Engineering Methods

  • Sub-optimal Use of the Distribution System

  • Incompatible Cultures and Values

The combination of these factors presents an incredible challenge to a utility faced with customer growth, a gradually increasing per capita demand for power and greater demands for reliable service.

What Attendees Will Learn:

This intensive 2 1⁄2day course will provide participants with a solid understanding of the basic issues and analytical methods for identifying and addressing aging infrastructure problems. Attendees will learn:

  • Problems associated with older infrastructure

  • What drives the deterioration of system performance

  • Technologies available to extend life and augment performance

  • Integrated methods for developing optimal plans

  • Maintaining both financial and operational performance at satisfactory levels
