Renewable Portfolio Standards have emerged as an effective and popular tool for promoting renewable energy at the state level. To date, 16 states - many of which are in the northeast - have enacted renewable portfolio standards that require utilities to supply a certain percentage of electricity from specified renewable energy technologies. Some RPS's will specify the technology mix, while others leave it up to the market. Each state, therefore, has a choice of how to fulfill this mandate using a combination of renewable energy sources, including wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, or other renewable sources combined with flexible, market-based mechanisms.

After multi-year proceedings for developing RPS policy, government and industry are now faced with implementing the new policies they created. This conference will address the key strategies concerning states in the northeastern US and how they will approach RPS compliance, verification and tracking. This conference will also cover the issues pertinent to long-term contracts, siting concerns, migratory bird flyways and strategies on integrating renewables into the existing grid system.  Register today!!!
