In Homeland Security Presidential Directive No. 7, President George W. Bush indicated that the energy sector is one of America?s critical infrastructures that must be protected from attack. The President directed the Department of Homeland Security to work with the Department of Energy and the private sector to develop protection plans for critical electric, oil and gas infrastructures, which comprise the energy sector.
