Four area companies have pledged to create a total of 64 jobs in return for low-cost power allocations, the New York Power Authority said Tuesday.

The companies that will receive the power are: BMP America and Associated Brands, both in Medina; DuPont in Niagara Falls; and Allegheny Technologies in Lockport. They will receive the allocations from blocks of power reserved for Western New York manufacturers.

BMP America plans to add 10 jobs to its 120-work force. Associated Brands says its work force of 208 will grow by 21 positions.

DuPont plans to add 30 jobs to its 254-member work force, and Allegheny Technologies, which employs 43, will add three jobs.
