NEWARK Con Edison is sending twelve
trucks and at least thirty utility workers to Birmingham, Alabama
to help people in the South get their power back.
More than one million people were blacked out by Hurricane
Katrina.
Joe Voto a Con Edison employee who is making the trip says, “This
is going to be a tough one. From what I understand everything is
under water.”
Con Ed spokesman Mike Clendenin says it will take about two to
three days for the crews to get to Birmingham.
