Henry Hub natural gas terminal closed on Katrina

Washington (Platts)--29Aug2005
Sabine Pipe Line LLC, the operator of Henry Hub, issued a notice of force
majeure Sunday and shut "until further notice" operations at the key South
Louisiana gas hub due to the impending strike of Hurricane Katrina, now a
Category-4 storm, the pipeline announced.
Sabine, the operator of the hub, which can handle 1.8 Bcf/d and is the
delivery point specified in the NYMEX gas futures contract, shut down the
system to receipt and delivery nominations at 5pm CST "for the safety of its
personnel and facilities."
Henry Hub interconnects with nine interstate and four intrastate
pipelines that serve markets in throughout the South, Midwest, Middle Atlantic
and Northeast.
Sabine also said receipt and delivery points on its mainline will be
affected to the extent that the nominations are connected to Henry Hub points.
