Pa. earmarks $14.4 million to improve mines, waterways

Pennsylvania has earmarked $14.4 million in grants to invest in projects to address environmental problems at mine sites and improve the quality of the state´s waterways.

The money will fund 129 nonpoint pollution projects through the state´s Growing Greener program. The projects include implementing watershed plans, stream restoration, sewage system upgrades and mine drainage treatment systems.

The state will accept applications for the grants until March 3. More information is available at www.dep.state.pa.us .
