The Mid-Continent Region of the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer has selected the state of New Mexico for the "Outstanding Partnership Award," in recognition of the state's development and implementation of an alternative energy source to combat increasing oil prices.

According to a news release, New Mexico was recognized for its Hydrogen Technology Partnership (HyTeP), a program of research, development, manufacturing and implementation of hydrogen energy models to help introduce a clean, abundant energy source and reduce the country's dependency on foreign oil.

The 3-year old program is an alliance representing industry, business, government, private companies, universities and national laboratories working together to enhance the economic development of New Mexico and the nation through a cooperative focus on hydrogen and fuel cell research, development, demonstration and commercialization.
