President Bush nominates Sam Bodman to Energy Secretary

Washington (Platts)--10Dec2004

President Bush Friday morning announced the nomination of Samuel Bodman to the
post of Secretary of Energy to replace outgoing Secretary Spencer Abraham.
Bodman, an engineer with experience at venture capital and energy companies,
currently is deputy secretary in the Treasury Dept and previously was deputy
secretary in the Dept of Commerce, Bush said in a White House ceremony.

Over the years, Bodman "has shown himself to be a problem solver" and is the right
person to lead the Dept of Energy for the next four years, Bush said. The
president said Bodman and his administration will work with Congress to
develop a sound national energy policy that increases supplies and promotes
conservation measures. Bush urged the Senate to confirm the nomination
"without delay."
