Senior Iraqi oil ministry delegation to visit Iran 1-2 Aug

A senior Iraq oil ministry delegation is expected to travel to Iran 1-2 Aug to
discuss energy and economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries,
the Iraqi oil ministry spokesman said Wednesday. 

"There is an economic conference in Tehran," the spokesman said, adding six
ministry officials will attend the conference. Senior oil ministry consultant
Ahmed al-Brefkani will head the delegation. Officials from Iraq's State Oil
Marketing Organization are planning to attend the conference, the spokesman
said without providing the names of the officials. In addition, the director
general of the State Oil Pipeline Co Ahmed al-Shamma and the director general
of the Oil Products and Distribution Co Ahmed al-Basri are planning to travel
to Tehran. Iran is currently supplying Iraq with refined oil products and
there have been discussions about building a crude pipeline across the Shatt
al-Arab waterway separating the two countries.
