Beacon Power Announces New Dates for M5 Certified Installer Training Classes in Three States

More Than 30 Installers Now Certified and Eligible for Installation Rebates

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- June 15, 2004 -- Beacon Power Corporation (NASDAQ: BCON), a leader in sustainable energy storage and power conversion systems, has announced a series of new dates and cities for Smart Power M5 Certified Installer training programs. The one-day classes will be held in Portland, Oregon (prior to the start of the ASES Solar 2004 conference) on July 10; Temecula, California on July 15; and Princeton, New Jersey on August 12. Information on course registration and specific training locations is available at www.beaconpower.com/support.

The M5 Certified Installer training course offers an in-depth exploration of the M5 in a typical grid-tied battery backup configuration, including system overview, installation, load sizing, battery basics, testing and troubleshooting. Attendees are then eligible to take the online M5 Installer Certification Exam, which, when passed, entitles those certified to a range of benefits, including a special service hotline, priority lead referrals, and a $200 manufacturer's rebate on every M5 system installed.

More than 30 solar energy system installers from across the country have been certified in the last few months. As previously announced, M5 Certified Installer training hours are also accepted for continuing education credit by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP).

Beacon Power's M5 Certified Installer Training programs are held at various locations around the country throughout the year. For a program description and to enroll in an upcoming class, visit www.beaconpower.com/support, or call toll-free 1-888-938-9112.

The Smart Power M5 is a 5-kilowatt power conversion system for use in grid-connected solar energy applications that addresses the needs of customers who have concerns about the stability and reliability of the electrical grid. When the grid fails, the M5 immediately switches to PV power during the day or to independent battery back-up mode at night, continuing to provide power to critical loads. It is also the most compact, easy to install and efficient product in this category. The M5 is available from leading distributors and solar energy dealers throughout the country.
