Iranian authorities need popular support to withstand IAEA pressure - press

In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. The pressures that Europe and America are imposing on the Islamic Republic of Iran through the International Atomic Energy Agency [IAEA], and also all the obstacles that they have created for us during the previous years -- and are still creating -- are all their means not to let a real religious establishment rule over Iran.

The specific feature of a religious and Islamic ruling system is that this system acts in the framework of Islamic orders, and the requirement for performing the Islamic orders is that it does not sell the country's independence, does not exchange its real freedom and liberation from ties and obligations of despotic powers with anything else, does not follow the orders of foreigners, and does not accept their commands in reaching its independence in scientific, industrial, and military affairs. This is why the Islamic Republic system has been able to preserve the independence of Iran during the past 25 years, has not accepted the orders and commands of the foreigners, has been able to achieve nuclear technology, has been able to make enormous progress in medical sciences, especially in reproduction of stem cells, has reached independence in agricultural sciences, and has taken fruitful steps in military industries.

For the Eastern nations, and even a number of Western countries, making progress in all of the above fields is in fact connected to receiving a permit from the authoritarian powers. Up to now, they have refrained from transferring technical expertise in significant fields such as nuclear technology, biotechnology, and aerospace sciences, to other nations. It is a well-known truth in scientific and political circles around the world that the authoritarian powers have these three fields exclusively in their own hands, and do not let their technological expertise be transferred to other nations.

Fortunately, the Islamic Republic of Iran has attained technological expertise in two of the three above mentioned fields (atomic energy and biotechnology) and has prepared the ground in the third. This is exactly what is is intolerable to America, Europe, and the Zionists.

If Iran did not have a religious establishment based on Islam, this scientific progress would be tolerable and acceptable for America, Europe, and the Zionists, because, in that case, it would follow their orders and they would not feel endangered by Iran's technologies and sciences. They are not even afraid of the title of "Islamic Republic," because there are two other countries with this same title adjacent to Iran, and America, Europe, and the Zionists, not only do not have any problems with them, but also are in complete agreement and interaction with them. In the Islamic East, there is another country with the title of "Islamic Republic," but, like our two neighbours, has nothing to do with the concept of being Islamic, and so the Western countries do not have any problem with that country either.

So the problem is not with the name, but with the concept.

If the Islamic Republic of Iran gives up its political independence, opens its doors to the Americans like the corrupt Pahlavi regime, officially recognizes the Zionist regime, or only promises not to be against it, then the Americans and Europeans will have no problem if it has access to atomic energy; even atomic bombs, biotechnology, and aerospace sciences. Obviously, such a deal means selling our independence for access to those sciences. We would have to sell our independence while at the same time not being allowed to use what we have without the permission of authoritarian powers.

This is exactly what is happening behind the curtains of the games played by the IAEA. The 25-year struggle of America, Europe, and the Zionist regime with Velayat-e Faqih [Guardianship of the Supreme Jurisconsult], both during the time of the Late Imam and after that, goes back to this same issue. Their support from Saddam during the imposed war was also due to this reason. The economic sanctions, political pressures, and all other obstacles they created for the Islamic Republic of Iran, are all closely related to this topic. Therefore, we must neither be satisfied by their smile today, nor should their frown of yesterday or tomorrow make us deviate from the way our revolution has presented to us.

The end of this game is to surrender to the demands of West, and since we cannot, and should not, give in to their will, we must strengthen the internal support for the establishment to be able to stand against them with confidence.

The internal support for the establishment is our people. The authorities must solve people's problems, serve the underprivileged layers, establish social justice, and create hope and trust among the people. In this case, and by relying on the strong support of the people, undoubtedly the Islamic Republic establishment can stand against the tyrannical demands of America and Europe and continue on its own way, which includes our independence, freedom, dignity, and glory. If the Islamic Republic establishment can resist the over- demanding attitude of the Western countries with regard to atomic energy, its success is assured, because atomic energy is a completely national issue that is of great significance for the entire Iranian people, and no one accepts surrender on this topic.

Therefore, the entire people, from every layer, trade, ideology, and manner, will stand beside the authorities, and make America and Europe regret their demands.
