American Music Awards celebrities receive first-ever organic gift bags

Los Angeles (November 14, 2004) – Tonight, for the first time ever, celebrities will score – in addition to pricey jewelry and gadgets – a gift bag of organic items, backstage at the 32nd annual American Music Awards being held at the Shrine Auditorium.

Eighty presenters and award winners – including Usher, Pamela Anderson, Sheryl Crow, Serena Williams, Clay Aiken, Lenny Kravitz, Jessica Simpson and Billy Idol – will receive organic goodies including personal lubricant, deodorant, chocolate, roses and coffee.

“Entertainers are increasingly vocalizing their concern for environmental issues,” said Michael Straus, president of San Francisco-based Straus Communications that specializes in promoting organic products and environmental issues. “This is a just small expression of our thanks for their critical support.”

“The demand and popularity for organic products is skyrocketing and going very mainstream,” said Michael Martin of Music Matters, the environmental entertainment promoter responsible for the Dave Matthews Band One Sweet Whirled concert tour.

The gift bags will include: Nude™ Organic Personal Lubricant, Kettle™ Brand Organic Potato Chips, Annie’s Homegrown Organic Macaroni and Cheese, Benedetta® “Fresh” Aromatherapeutics Organic Deodorant, CLIF® and LUNA® bars, Taylor Maid Farms Organic, Fair Trade Coffee, Organic Bouquet Gift Certificates for Organic Roses, Zhena’s Gypsy Tea Organic, Fair Trade Tea, Dagoba® Organic Chocolate, Straus Family Creamery coupons for Organic Ice Cream and Organic European Style Butter, and a Patagonia® Beneficial T’s Organically Grown Cotton Tote Bag.
