N.B. power plant disrupted _ unknown when generating will resumed

SAINT JOHN, N.B. - Oct 2 (The Associated Press)

There was an unscheduled shutdown Saturday at New Brunswick's nuclear power plant.

Crews had been doing maintenance work on one of the automatic shut-down systems at the Point Lepreau nuclear station prior to the disruption.

NB Power spokesman Jeffrey Carleton told CHSJ radio that replacement energy was being purchased during the shutdown.

There was no word on when the generating station would be back on line or on how much the shutdown would cost.
