STB sets Nov. 2 public hearing on Arizona Electric coal rate case

Washington DC (Platts)--11Oct2004

The Surface Transportation Board will hear oral arguments on Tuesday, Nov. 2,
in the rate case involving Arizona Electric Power Co-op against Burlington
Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific railroads. The hearing will begin at 10
a.m. at the STBs headquarters in Washington. Each side will have 40 minutes to
argue its position.

AEPC is asking the board to prescribe reasonable rates for the two railroads
to move coal from Peabody Energys Lee Ranch mine in New Mexico to the Apache
station. The coal originates on BNSF and is delivered on UP. Apache is captive
to UP.
