California Million Solar Homes bill failed to pass this year

Vote Solar Supporters,

Despite the efforts of so many, we are sorry to report that the California Million Solar Homes bill failed to pass this year. But the good news is that after over 5000 calls and emails from supporters, Governor Schwarzenegger put his muscle behind the bill, but it was too little, too late.

While the bigger bill didn't pass this year, a smaller bill - AB 135 – which allocates $60 million for solar energy in 2005, did pass and we have just gotten confirmation that the governor will soon sign it.

Is the glass half full or half empty? Definitely half full. Your emails and phone calls were instrumental in getting the governor of the biggest state in the country to publicly support the most ambitious solar policy ever. And our organization, along with a growing coalition of other groups, is committed to winning this battle when the legislation gets reintroduced next session.

Thanks again for all your support. We will be calling on you again. And we won't stop until we win.

The Vote Solar Crew,

David Hochschild
