US Gulf gas output shut in by Ivan at 6.043 Bcf/d: agency

Crude oil and natural gas production shut-ins in the US Gulf of Mexico as a
result of Hurricane Ivan rose to 1.3-mil b/d and 6.043 Bcf/d, respectively,
the Minerals Management Service reported Wednesday in its 2 p.m. EDT (1800
GMT) update. MMS noted that the shut in oil output was equal to 77.63% of the
1.7-mil b/d in output from the area, while gas shut-ins equaled 49.14% of the
12.3 Bcf/d in production. The cumulative amount of oil production shut in by
Ivan now totals 2.506-mil bbl, or 0.414% of yearly production, while gas
shut-ins have reached a cumulative 11.2163 Bcf, or 0.25% of yearly output,
according to MMS's data.
