OPEC President sees oil prices falling over next two months

Jakarta (Platts)--6Sep2004

OPEC President Purnomo Yusgiantoro said Monday he expected world oil prices to
fall over the next two months as supply fears recede and the US presidential
election nears.

The amount of spare output capacity is likely to rise at the
same time, said Purnomo, adding it would be "good news" if prices fell.
Purnomo, who is also Indonesia's oil minister, said he believed the legal and
financial problems besetting Russian oil major Yukos could also recede.
Purnomo said OPEC ministers meeting in Vienna Sep 15 would discuss the current
balance between supply and demand in world oil markets.
