B.C. Premier to visit Schwarzenegger to discuss climate change issues

VICTORIA (The Associated Press) - Mar 12

Premier Gordon Campbell will be in Los Angeles on Thursday to meet Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to discuss efforts to combat climate change.

B.C. has promised to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a third by 2020 and Campbell says he's looking for ways to hit those numbers and how the province might co-ordinate its efforts with California.

While meeting with Schwarzenegger, Campbell is also hoping to paint his province as a potential supplier of clean energy for California.

He says there's no reason B.C. can't be a green energy "powerhouse".

Campbell says he still plans to host a meeting in B.C. with the governors of California, Oregon, Washington and possibly Alaska later this spring to discuss climate change efforts.
