US LNG imports already set new record in March: consultant

Washington (Platts)--26Mar2007

US imports of liquefied natural gas so far in March have broken the
previous record set in December 2004, consultant Pan EurAsian Enterprises said
Monday.

Pan EurAsian said that based on data it collected from natural gas
pipeline operators, five US LNG import terminals through March 26 will have
sent out 66 Bcf, compared with 63.6 Bcf in December 2004.

The consulting firm said that, based on its data, the largest importer of
natural gas into the US in liquefied form is BG Group through the Savannah,
Georgia, and Lake Charles, Louisiana, terminals. The second largest is Suez
through the Boston terminal.

Raleigh, North Carolina-based Pan EurAsian said US natural gas prices,
reported at Henry Hub, have been and remain "considerably higher than natural
gas prices in Europe and the United Kingdom," adding that the "futures market
presently suggests that this relationship will persist through September."
