When information about a possible Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities was recently leaked to the news media, Israeli officials blamed the leaks on senior Israeli officials who they said were opposed to an upcoming decision to be made by Israeli leaders. This suggests that Israel has a viable plan to significantly damage Iran’s nuclear capabilities, and will soon decide whether to execute that plan.

There are a number of ways Israel might attack. Some have suggested Israel already has assets inside Iran. Earlier this year, for example, the United States exposed and sanctioned an Israeli shipping firm owned by the Ofer brothers for trading with Iran. An Israeli parliamentary hearing on the issue was abruptly called off following an intervention by Israeli security officials, leading Israeli press to speculate that Israel had used such shipments to secretly infiltrate and preposition equipment -- even possibly helicopters -- in Iran.
