Police have no actual responsibility to protect you from criminals
Did you know that the courts have ruled, again and again, that the police have no actual responsibility to protect you from criminals? No wonder more and more Americans are seeking concealed carry permits! In fact, the evidence is quite clear: allowing citizens to carry firearms reduces crime against them. But be careful. Even dutiful citizens who believe they are complying with the law can get tripped up in a regulatory nightmare. Just ask gun owner Gregg Revell. In 2005 Revell was flying from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Allentown, Pennsylvania, with a connecting flight via Newark, New Jersey. He carried an unloaded firearm in his checked baggage, and complied fully with all the regulations for transporting a firearm. The flight from Salt Lake City was delayed, and he was stranded in New Jersey overnight. That's when his legal nightmare started. Because of New Jersey's gun laws, he was charged with possession of a handgun without a permit and possession of hollow-point ammunition. Revell was thrown in jail for several days before being released on bond. Revell's case illustrates a big problem gun owners face: a spider web of conflicting and often-changing interstate permit regulations that may or may not include reciprocal agreements.
