Raw sewage spills into Salem, Ore., creek

Sept. 16 -- About 7,500 gallons of raw sewage was spilled into Clark Creek Wednesday, according to the Statesman Journal in Salem, Ore.

The Salem Public Works department said a sanitary sewer pipe was clogged with grease.

Samples were taken and signs were posted warning people to avoid contact with the water, the paper reported.

The department said the sewage would be flushed out of the creek in the next few days.
